Ever thought about what’s trending at wedding expos in Germany lately? I went to a wedding expo recently, and here’s what I saw.

I went to a wedding expo recently, and here’s what I saw. Unlike in the Philippines where we have wedding expos almost every month, in Germany they usually have it just once a year and mainly in Berlin. It was also way smaller, maybe about four times smaller than the ones we have.
They had the usual wedding essentials: bridal gowns, suits for grooms, and even a wedding ring booth where you can personalize the ring with your name or signature. There was also a caterer booth, but unlike in the Philippines where we usually get free food tasting, they just showed the table setup, no food at all.

I also noticed some fun ideas to keep guests entertained while waiting for the ceremony to start. There was a photo booth where people could take pictures with props, which is always a hit at weddings. They also had a mobile bar that served cocktails, different kinds of alcoholic drinks, and beer perfect for setting a relaxed vibe early on.
What caught my eye too was a juice booth for non-drinkers and even a donut wall, which looked super cute and Instagram-worthy. It’s nice to see how they put thought into keeping the guests engaged and comfortable even before the main event begins.

What surprised me the most was a black bridal gown, something you’d probably never see a bride wearing in the Philippines. It was so different from the usual white or off-white dresses we’re used to. It made me realize just how interesting it is to see the cultural differences between weddings in the West and back home. In Germany, it seems like there’s more freedom for brides to express their personal style, even if it means breaking tradition.
Also, their weddings are way simpler compared to what we usually have in the Philippines. The things I saw at the expo were really practical and straightforward, just the basics covered without too much fuss or extra decoration. It felt more focused on what’s really important rather than going all out with big, flashy setups. Definitely a more laid-back and down-to-earth vibe compared to the often elaborate weddings in the Philippines.
